2001 Nissan Altima, Advertising
As both late owners of first and second generation Altimas, we felt these little cars were severely underrated today. Feeling compelled to share our affection for the car we decided to put together a portfolio of photos, footage, and copy over the course of a few months as if we were commissioned to develop an advertising campaign for the 2001 Nissan Altima.

“Looking at the 2001 Nissan Altima you might not expect much, though only if you’ve never the pleasure of owning one. Produced in a time of drab economy cars, the Altima brought new life to practicality and efficiency. Not with gas mileage and safety features, speed or handling, but pure pragmatism.
With a 2.4 liter dual-overhead powerplant and a wheel the size of your grandmother’s largest deviled egg platter, the Nissan flies on the interstate but frolics politely around your neighborhood. The steering is light, but the harsh struts give you all the necessary feedback from the roadway.
In the future this car will run a rally race, and it will do well! Front wheel drive, suspension that loves to get its ass kicked, and a Japanese built motor that people blow head gaskets on to make parts widely available.
No, it’s not a nice car, it’s a practical car, a car you can hoon on the highway before picking the kids up from preschool. At 3,000 pounds, the 150 horses do the job at a speed that does not disappoint. You probably would get crushed if the car ended the wrong way up, still, the visibility is pristine; no accident is safer than no accident.
The Nissan Altima is a bullet for the gun you keep in your purse. Is this not the true ideal of practicality, that which excels in all?”
